At InStitchu we understand a top-notch wardrobe is an investment of select high quality and versatile pieces. Our featured fabric of July is fabric #25, a beautiful wool/cashmere blend Super 100's middle grey fabric with a herringbone pattern. We are going to suggest three varying outfits for different occasions using the whole or parts of the suit.

Suit Design Details

Single breasted w/ two buttons

Regular pockets (optional ticket pocket)

Twin vents

Notch lapels

'Natural' shoulders - no padding

One quarter back lining - for lightweight & temperate control

Lapel pick stitching

Outfit #1: Summer Work Suit

The lightness of this fabric will provide a relief from the darker tones witnessed throughout the city. We are going to use this fabric to construct a lightweight, semi unstructured summer suit. The 'natural' shoulders and one quarter back lining will create a lighter weight and unstructured jacket, which will regulate heat better. Combined with the wool/cashmere blended fabric and the lighter tone, this suit will certainly be more heat resistant than your usual dark navy suit.

Combine this look with a crisp, French cuffed white shirt (Fabric #93), and a wool dark charcoal tie in wool to create a spot on monotone style.

Outfit #2: Formal Daytime Event

For a formal daytime event, for instance, a long lunch, racing or polo day, we are going to keep the jacket and swap out the jacket for the more common charcoal jacket and keep the bottom light with fabric 25. The dark on top will draw attention up; cutting a solid silhouette while the remainder of the outfit stays light and less 'heavy'. Pair with a crisp white French cuffed shirt, white Pocket Square and a textured darker toned tie such as a woolen knit tie. Tie it in a four-in-hand knot to create an asymmetrical touch to your suit, adding a Sprezzatura type touch. Read more about selecting which knot to do when here.

This will create a distinctive, simple and classic outfit that not many men take advantage of these days. You can read further about mixing and matching jackets and trousers in our Style Guide article here.

Outfit #3: Cocktail Drinks

The most casual occasion listed in this article, we are going to reverse the above outfit and lose the tie, both changes reduce the formality of your suit. The dark toned charcoal fabric trousers and middle gray fabric #25 jacket create a more casual look given the lighter colour is up top.

Keep it monotone with the classic white oxford shirt, sans tie. Create a visual contrast by wearing a pocket square, I would suggest Charlie (navy and white gingham) or Draper (plain navy) pocket squares from William & Hank and sold through InStitchu.
