The Classic Black Cocktail Suit
Arguably one of the first three suits a man should buy first. This versatile suit can be used for work, drinks and formal cocktail events. We recommend fabric #19, a Super 120's 100% Wool fabric in a beautiful black texture.
Design Details
- Single breasted
- Notch lapel (peak lapels would lift the formality)
- Flap pockets w/ ticket pocket
- Twin back vents
- Normal shoulders (padded)
- Side tab trousers
The Midnight Blue Tuxedo
Made popular by Daniel Craig in Skyfall, the subtle contrast of midnight navy and black results in a striking tuxedo jacket. We recommend keeping it subtle and opt for fabric #8, a beautiful Super 110's 100% wool fabric in a deep rich navy. Pair with a french cuffed Tuxedo shirt, cut away collar and black satin self tie bow tie and you're set to kill the badie and kiss the girl.
Design Details
- Single breasted
- Shawl lapel (black satin)
- Besom pockets (satin edge)
- No vents
- Normal shoulders
- Side tab trousers
The Classic Black Tuxedo
A timeless outfit for men, the all black tuxedo deserves a high quality fabric and slim modern cut. While InStitchu carries a wide range of black fabrics, I personally would opt for fabric #19. The Super 120's 100% wool will create a beautiful drape over the well-fitted cut on your shoulders. Keep it classic and opt for a satin shawl lapel, or you can go a little more modern with satin peak lapels.
Design Details
- Single breasted
- Shawl lapel (classic) or peak lapel (modern)
- Besom pockets
- No vents
- Natural shoulders
- Side tab trousers
The Charcoal Tuxedo Blazer
The more unconventional choice of the four, the charcoal tuxedo blazer paired with slim black trousers and simple self-tie bow tie will catch eyeballs. We recommend fabric #16, a Super 120's 100% wool in a beautifully textured charcoal tone that will contrast superbly with the black satin shawl lapel. We recommend the black trousers to ensure more formality over a full charcoal suit. Keep it monotone with a crisp self-tied bow tie over your french cuff shirt with cut away collars.
Design Details
- Single breasted
- Shawl lapel (black satin)
- Besom pockets
- No vents
- Normal shoulders
- Black trousers w/ side tabs
For all of the above suits, I recommend a slim fit stemming from well-fitted shoulders and a drape that follows the torso contours. Keeping in line with formality, I recommend a marginally longer suit cut length (front and back) than you would typically have for your work suits. The longest length appropriate is in line with your first thumb joint with your hands straight beside your body.
