The InSider

Igee-3.jpgIt's that time of the season where changes in career moves are being made. Whether you're working on securing a new internship at a start up or a full time position at a Fortune 500 company, we can agree that securing an opportunity is one thing. Figuring out how best to present yourself physically whilst trying to secure that opportunity, is another.

Some believe suits belong to work lines that are long established and customary—such as Finance and Real Estate. While the statement is not entirely false, the truth of the matter is that there's something to be said about a gentleman who chooses to wear a suit no matter the career path. It's a smart look that has fully transcended time, and for good reason. A good suit is always bound to make you look intelligent, proficient, and mature.

Long gone are the days of traditional styling. In today's world, suiting styles require a medium ground between white collar and creative. It's very important that you showcase your individuality. First impressions are part of the game—you want to play well. How about a light brown suit for a start?

Brown is such a neutral colour that doesn't play towards superfluity. It's a colour that can be identified for its conventional tone making it easy to be paired with some of the most detailed items in menswear. My advice for pairings extend below:

The Shirt

When choosing a shirt to pair with a brown suit, it's more effective to work with a shirt with subtle detail. For example, the thin striped shirt I'm wearing in the photographs above. Picking colours that contrast well with the suit creates an excellent repute for the entire ensemble.

The Tie
Stand out a little more by pairing a subtle striped shirt with a bold striped tie. Because mixing prints and patterns can be a bit undisciplined, working within the same palette of blue and brown is recommended.

The Shoes
When it comes to shoes, you don't want to play around because they finish and pull the entire look together. A darker pair of brown monk straps is a great idea.
